Episode #23: Making Big Changes With Al 'The Yeti' Bones

I love it when people make changes for the better.

I love the decision. I love the discipline. I love the results. This show exists partly to show my listeners proof that change is possible, and give them practical advice on how to do it from people who have been there.

Enter Al ‘The Yeti’ Bones.

I met Al for the first time via Internet a few years ago when I debuted a single by his band Gypsy Chief Goliath on the London Groove Machine blog. GCG is a popular act in my part of the world. They’re a heavy stoner rock band and The Yeti is pretty legendary. If you look back through photos of Al over the years you get where the name comes from. He’s had a lot of experience playing in signed bands and recording and grinding it out in the biz.

All of that was reason enough to have him on the show, but what really caught my eye is the stuff he’s been posting on Facebook over the past little while. The Yeti seemed to have become a motivational speaker. A Bulletproof Coffee, rise at five, Keto diet lifehacker who is really digging into a different and more powerful way to live.

I followed for a while and then knew I had to have him on the show to talk about all of this stuff. As you will hear in the episode, Al began to take a good, hard look at his life and not like everything he saw. He didn’t like his body. He didn’t like his mindset. As a married father of two he felt like he could be living a healthier, happier life, so he made a brave and empowering decision: get in the best shape of his life by age 40.

The magic happens when you make those decisions and commit to practical steps.

Now almost a hundred pounds lighter, Al’s life has changed in far more than physical ways. He is thinking better. He’s attracted a new career that really works for him. He’s written a book on thriving in the modern music industry. He’s created the kind of momentum that comes from making positive choices and thinking long-term. I’m really impressed with what he’s done and I loved listening to him tell his story.

I hope you will too.
