Listen:
This one really was a scramble. I intended to have a guest this week, but after we recorded the conversation I hoped to publish, I realized that the audio was too messed up to be fixed. I really tried, but I reached a point where I would have had to cut out whole sections of the conversation, doing to the episode what modern censors have done to Looney Tunes cartoons - one second you're watching Daffy Duck, then suddenly his head is smoking and his beak is missing and you're like, "What happened?" There's no context, and it doesn't work. I couldn't do that to you, faithful listener, so I decided to ditch the episode. I shall try again and hopefully have the guest on next week.
Problem is I was left without an episode to publish. As you'll hear me say in what was eventually published, I don't want to do hodgepodge episodes anymore, but there were mitigating circumstances this time. I'll also say it was kind of a fun -- if stressful -- challenge to come up with a whole episode and record it and edit it and get it published in the space of a few hours. I don't ever want to do it again, but I draw a certain amount of satisfaction from more or less having pulled it off.
So today we get a fun and loosely connected meander through Amsterdam (complete with a poem!), the Horseshoe Tavern, the Tragically Hip, Sarah Harmer, Call The Office, Ty Tabor, Jacquie Neville, Poison winning the Stadium Tour, Tommy Clufetos, and the Count Me In documentary. I think it's a fun and inspiring episode and I hope you enjoy.
I'd say more, but I'm out of time. Thanks as ever for listening!
